Hi. I'm Simon Cousins.

I've been passionate about photography for at least 30 years and can see no sign of that enthusiasm waning now I've passed 60.

I have lived in Shropshire since the late 80's. Whenever I sweep back down towards its county town of Shrewsbury, with the Welsh mountains beyond, I always feel lucky to have ended up calling this home.

Yet despite my great love for this corner of England, I am always looking to travel, to experience the otherness of different cultures. Especially in their cities, where I love to lose myself in the blur and chaos and try to find their beating heart.

Last year, I held an exhibition of my photographs called 'A Sense of Place', which is the underlying theme in all my work. It featured images from such alluring locations as Cuba, Sri Lanka, Paris, Vietnam and Marrakech as well as many studies of beautiful Shrewsbury. It also reminded me how many more places I long to visit: South America, Southern India, Iceland, Lebanon, Myanmar. And sometimes I fear I'm running out of  time...

Closer to home, I have played a part in the transformation of The Dragon Hotel in Montgomery, on the Welsh Marches, with a series of portraits of this charming town and its environs. And recently, I have begun contributing to the excellent local magazine, "My Shrewsbury', edited by Katy Rink.

I am always available for photographic commissions at home and abroad. Please get in touch through the 'Contact' page.

In the meantime, I hope you enjoy these photographs and choose to find a place for them in your home.

Simon :-)
